Kirsty MacDiarmid

Previous Enactus University: Sheffield

Current Role: HR Growth Specialist

Organisation: Centrica

I joined Enactus Sheffield in my first year at University. I was a founding member of HOPE which worked with survivors of human trafficking in a jewellery enterprise. In my second year I stepped up to be a project leader of one of the HOPE teams and supporting with its expansions. Lastly, but by no means least, I was HR director in my final year with my responsibilities including recruitment, engagement and development of over 169 members.
I was also fortunate enough to attend nationals twice and attend the World Cup in China as national champions.

My experience in Enactus allowed me translate my degree in a real life environment with highly motivated individuals whilst also providing myself the opportunity to work with people in our local community. Additionally, the chance to test and learn a HR role was paramount in guiding me to my future career and those experiences helped me to stand out in the crowd when applying for graduate roles.

I currently work at Centrica and have been there for over 2 years now. As the graduate scheme is rotational I have had the opportunity to be a HR manager and pick up employee relations experience, a HR business partner and become an organisational change specialist. Now I am in learning and development as a growth specialist which I thoroughly enjoy!
