Press Release

350 leaders of tomorrow, supported by some of the top global companies, gather to build their capacity for tackling the UN’s Global Goals at the Enactus UK training weekend 2015 supported by Enactus UK Alumni

-Students build capacity to tackle Global Goals-

Enactus UK, in partnership with a number of the UKs top corporates and their alumni, hosted 350 students from across the UK in Grantham for two days of team and capacity building. The weekend focused on developing their skills in areas from project management, idea creation to increasing understanding of the UK sustainable development goals.

The Enactus UK programme aims to educate students to become more socially responsible and culturally responsible young leaders, the early seeds of which are beginning to be seen as alumni come from across their respective companies to support the weekend. Students utilise this knowledge through the creation and execution of projects within their local community as well as some on an international stage.

Andrew Bacon, Enactus UK CEO said “What an incredible event this year, bringing together the next cohort of social entrepreneurs and responsible corporate business people, to train and develop together. The programme gets stronger every year and we look forward to hosting the World Cup event in 2017, an event that all this year's Training Weekend attendees will be able to take some part in.”

Nationally, the alumni network are supporting the Enactus UK programme by mentoring over 50 university teams to increase the students personal and professional capacity, with the UK champions Enactus Southampton this year winning the World Cup in South Africa. Emily Chan, Chair of the Enactus UK Alumni said “We are proud to do everything we can to support and give back to the Enactus network that gave us so much as students. We know we are building something really special here and are so excited to see the innovative ideas, projects and social enterprises that the students are continually developing in line with the new development goals.  The annual training weekend is great way to inspire students and help them turn their visions into a reality."
