The Big Deal, Warwick Business School
The Big Deal is run by the Warwick Business School and is a business enterprise competition for Year 10 students who are part of the University of Warwick UniTracks Programme.
The Big Deal takes place in the spring over a 10-12 week period working with 14-15 year olds from disadvantaged backgrounds from across the UK (mainly areas of London, Cumbria and the Midlands). Small teams compete by working with a business mentor to create an enterprise idea based on a need they have identified in their local area. They work through a series of online tasks, write a business or social enterprise plan and then present their idea to a panel of judges. The participants develop soft skills such as teamworking, presenting, confidence building and time management as well as understanding the different elements of business planning.
Enactus is working with Warwick by providing resources and delivering training to support the Big Deal National Competition for 2018.
Future Foundations are an award winning youth training organisation, established back in 2004 with a mission to inspire young people to achieve their full potential and become leaders in their lives and within society. Their vision aligns with Enactus, for a society where all organisations are led by socially conscious people, with every young person making the transition into adulthood with the foundations they need for their future. They design and deliver transformational leadership programmes for young people including Global Social Leaders (run in the UK and around the world), the government’s National Citizen Service and summer schools for UK and international students.
Future Foundations CEO and wider senior management team are Enactus alumni and we also believe in the organisation, its value and how it develops the leaders of tomorrow. We encourage the participants in our school programmes to join Enactus if they plan to go on to University. We also believe that Enactus students are some of the best people to inspire the next generation, and we do therefore actively recruit Enactus students and alumni for our summer programmes. In 2012, Future Foundations secured funding to run the National Citizen Service in 9 cities working in partnership with Enactus UK.
