Why should I join Enactus UK & Ireland?

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

We believe that student entrepreneurs taking action creates a better world for us all. In the Enactus programme, you’ll get to work hands-on to tackle the UN Sustainable Development Goals on both a local and global scale. Projects vary from team to team, but as an Enactus member you’ll be able to work with like-minded individuals to shape these projects and maximise your social impact.

Making a difference is at the heart of the Enactus programme, so you’ll also get the chance to take part in our competition. Each year, Enactus teams across the country compete to do the most social good in a sustainable manner in our Regional and National competitions, presenting their projects in a bid to be crowned the National Champion and represent the UK & Ireland at the Enactus World Cup.

What would I do in Enactus UK & Ireland?

YOUR TEAM EXPERIENCE

Each Enactus team has its own projects, so every Enactus student gets a unique experience. There’s very little expectation of you joining Enactus - you only have to contribute a minimum of 10 hours through the year - but, needless to say, the more effort you put in, the more you’ll get out of it!

When joining Enactus, you’ll likely join one of your team’s projects in some capacity. This could be absolutely anything - volunteer work, marketing, finance, working with businesses, and so on. Some teams/projects prefer to have people in specific roles, so you might specialise in one of these things, while in other teams everyone mucks in with whatever needs doing! The projects of each team are all incredibly unique, tackling a very specific problem using the skills of social enterprise, so you could be working on anything from supporting food banks and local causes to poverty relief projects halfway across the world!

During your time in Enactus, you might wish to move up into your team’s committee, or into being your projects’ leader. These roles give you the opportunity to develop your leadership skills and help take your Enactus projects and team to the next level. You’ll also gain access to support and additional resources as a committee member, helping you further blossom into your role.

COMPETITIONS

Every year, each Enactus team in the country takes part in our competition format to find out who has achieved the most sustainable good. The teams each select a presentation team, who work to develop a 12-minute presentation to show off the projects and social impact achieved throughout the past year. We host our main competition in April every year during our National Expo!

Nationals takes place over two days in London, with presentation teams showcasing the work of each Enactus team in front of a crowd of senior business leaders, academics, and fellow Enactus students. Even if you’re not on the presentation team, there’s still plenty for you to see and do at Nationals, including project showcases, careers fairs, keynote speakers, our official Afterparty, as well as taking in the competition - so be sure not to miss it!

The National Champion gets to go on one additional adventure - the Enactus World Cup. Enactus isn’t just in the UK & Ireland but in 33 countries across the globe. Each year, the national champions of each country head to the Enactus World Cup to compete for the title of Enactus World Champion. World Cup moves around to different locations, having previously been held in San Jose, Toronto, London, Johannesburg, Beijing, and more! 2023 will see the World Cup take place in Utrecht, the Netherlands, represented by Enactus Durham - will they manage to lift the crown and become the next Enactus World Champion?
