GOAL: PROTECT, RESTORE AND PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE USE OF TERRESTRIAL ECOSYSTEMS, SUSTAINABLY MANAGE FORESTS, COMBAT DESERTIFICATION, AND HALT AND REVERSE LAND DEGRADATION AND HALT BIODIVERSITY LOSS.

“A flourishing life on land is the foundation for our life on this planet. We are all part of the planet’s ecosystem and we have caused severe damage to it through deforestation, loss of natural habitats and land degradation. Promoting a sustainable use of our ecosystems and preserving biodiversity is not a cause. It is the key to our own survival.”

Bee Sustainable, Enactus Greenwich

“Bee Sustainable’s purpose is to help support and rejuvenate bee species in London by creating bee gardens fitted with bee hotels. The spaces they create to boost bee populations have also benefitted the community!”

Want to know what makes Bee Sustainable an EXCELLENT Enactus Project? Read on below!

    • The beekeeping of honeybees has been increasing massively but the variety of wild bee species has been plummeting.

    • 97% of habitats have been lost in the past 60 years, since 1900 15 bee species became extinct and a further 35 are under the threat of extinction.

    • Therefore, more green spaces for pollinators, education, and awareness are vital to bee survival.

    • Creating Bee gardens where wild bees and bumblebees can visit all the beautiful flowers and book a beecation at a bee hotel, which provide shelter and nesting opportunities.

    • To fund the creation of these bee gardens, Bee Sustainable manufactures beeswax products – for example by creating candles with profits going back into the project.

    • They also educate young people on the importance of supporting bee populations so that they can continue to take care of our ecosystem.

    • Bee Sustainable estimated that they have impacted around 3,400 bees and have spent £400 of revenue on planting bee-friendly plants at the Avery Hill campus which has provided a communal space for the Avery Hill community.
